Choose to Build Bridges Where Others Build Walls
When I was a teenager, a prophecy was spoken over my life: that I would fight with the Sword of the Spirit and lean heavily on the Sword of the Word.
Looking back, I believe God was revealing how He wired me. He made me a philosopher at heart—someone designed to think deeply, ask hard questions, and teach with a philosophical approach. But He anchored that mind directly into the foundation of His written Word.
My heart's passion isn't to win intellectual debates; it’s to use the Sword of the Spirit to clear away spiritual confusion and help people see the true character of God.
Building Bridges vs. Stacking Walls
It’s easy to get caught up in theological arguments that force us into opposing camps. One side builds a wall around cold determinism; another builds a wall around total human self-reliance. Before long, we aren’t talking to each other—we’re just throwing proof-texts over the brickwork.
Scripture reminds us that "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds" (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Human arguments build walls to keep people out and construct mental strongholds that keep people trapped. But God’s purpose isn't to erect barriers—it is to tear down spiritual strongholds, break chains, and clear the path to truth.
Stop Trying to Do the Angels' Job
Many believers confuse their assignment. They see that God will one day judge, and they assume their job right now is to sort the field. But when the servants asked if they should gather up the weeds, the Master gave a strict command:
"No; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest" (Matthew 13:29–30).
When we take it upon ourselves to purge the field and label people as lost causes, our self-righteousness uproots genuine wheat. We don't have the eyes to see what is happening deep in the soil beneath the surface. Sorting the crop belongs to the angels at the end of the age. We have been entrusted with something entirely different: the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18).
Overcoming Heresy: The Bridge Between Election and Choice
Most theological errors don't start with pure lies; they start with incomplete truths weaponized to build walls. We are called to "rightly divide the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15)—not to isolate people, but to bring the full counsel of God into harmony.
Consider the age-old wall built between God’s Sovereign Election and Man’s Human Choice:
The Wall of Fatalism claims God arbitrarily decides who makes it, ignoring that "the Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
The Wall of Human Pride claims man saves himself, ignoring that "no man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him" (John 6:44).
The Biblical Bridge: God’s sovereignty and man’s choice do not fight each other; they meet seamlessly in God’s omniscience and character.
Scripture reveals that we are "elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father" (1 Peter 1:2). God sees the end from the beginning. He knows outside of time who will respond to His light. Yet, like the Father watching the road for the returning Prodigal (Luke 15:20), the moment a heart even begins to turn toward home, God rushes out to meet them, granting grace, breaking up the hard soil, and declaring: "To him that hath shall more be given" (Matthew 25:29).
God is absolute in His sovereignty, perfect in His foreknowledge, and relentless in His pursuit. He judges with custom-tailored fairness because He knows every rock, thorn, and obstacle in our soil.
Our Calling
Where human debate wants to divide, lock people into categories, and write off hard ground, our assignment is clear:
Tear down the arguments that paint God as arbitrary, unloving, or unfair.
Stop pulling up the wheat by trying to play judge over other people's hearts.
Build bridges of grace and truth that restore trust in the true, good character of God.
Let’s stop stacking bricks to defend our arguments. Let’s start using the Sword of the Spirit to pull down walls, break chains, and build bridges that bring people home.
