Eternal Security? The debate over whether you can "lose"…

Eternal Security?
The debate over whether you can "lose" your salvation is largely a semantic misunderstanding. It entirely depends on how you define the word:
As a Potential Destination (Our Perspective): From our linear timeline, salvation is a lifelong journey. A person retains their agency and can actively choose to abandon the path.
As a Completed Work (God's Perspective): "Saved" is a past-tense word. Because God exists outside of time, anyone who is genuinely saved is already secure with the Father in eternity. No outside force can snatch them from His hand.
The Warning: Self-Delusion and Suppressing Truth
A shallow understanding of security causes some to think they can behave however they want. But scripture is clear: "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7).
When people lack the faith to attend to obedience, it is because they don't truly believe what God says. Often, this leads to a suppression of the truth, where people deny God's authority or twist His Word just to comfort their own disobedience (Romans 1:18).
True grace is received strictly through faith. As Hebrews 11:6 states, saving faith requires two things: believing that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. You cannot diligently seek Him while suppressing His truth.
The Assurance: Secure Though We Stumble
Are we eternally secure? Absolutely. If we are genuinely standing on Christ and putting our faith in Him, we are secure, even though we stumble. The Christian walk is one of stumbling and recovering, fighting daily to "bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5).
While we may lose many individual battles in this life, anyone who remains on that narrow path through faith in His name will be forgiven. Our security doesn't rely on our perfection, but on His promise: God Himself will ensure your arrival in His presence.
