My heart, my doctrine, and the preaching of the gospel.

I will not surrender to my most selfish instincts, or your most destructive ones.

I will not surrender to my most selfish instincts, or your most destructive ones.
We live in a culture obsessed with self preservation. We hide behind boundary buzzwords, retreat into quiet complicity, and call it wisdom. But protecting your own comfort at the expense of someone else's destruction is not wisdom. It is cowardice.
We are not called to insulate ourselves from discomfort. We are called to love people enough to speak truth, even when it costs us something. The fact that many warnings go unheeded is irrelevant; obedience is not measured by popularity.
Silence in the face of harm is complicity. "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful" (Proverbs 27:6).
To follow Christ's example and lay down your comfort for the sake of others is not a savior complex or a hero complex. Those are cheap framing words designed by a self-absorbed world to discourage selfless obedience.
It is truly selfless to speak the truth in love, standing firm in the hope that someone will hear and be saved from the snare. Some will listen.
Let your light shine before men.
