Some people say things like “you can’t unring that bell” or “I trust people to reveal who they really are,” but that mindset leaves no room for forgiveness, no room for trust, and no room for hope. Scripture calls us to something higher.

When someone humbly brings a flaw into the light, there is no excuse to withhold forgiveness. Jesus told us to forgive seventy times seven. That wasn’t a suggestion. That was the heart of God toward us.

And getting upset at someone for getting upset is just as invalid. We all have weak points. When two people struggle in the same area, it’s better for one to choose grace than for neither to do so.

Real transformation doesn’t come from striving. It comes from surrender. It comes from the Holy Spirit, from humility, and sometimes from simply recognizing a pattern and breaking its power through joy and truth instead of shame.

Sometimes there are deeper triggers — insecurity, old wounds, or even spiritual interference. I’m not the guy who blames everything on demons, but Scripture tells us to ask God for wisdom, and He gives it generously.

Here’s the heart of the matter:

No human being is perfectly trustworthy — not you, not me, not your spouse. But Scripture says that love believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love keeps trusting and keeps hoping anyway, because that is what love does.

Only God is faithful without fail. His faithfulness reaches to the heavens. His mercy is new every morning. He remembers that we are dust and deals with us gently.

And here is the hope: you can rely on God so deeply and draw so much love from Him that you no longer need a certain response from anyone else to walk in peace. When you abide in Him, no one can steal your joy.

That doesn’t mean ignoring someone’s pain. Scripture says to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. That too is love.

If you get nothing else from this, get this:

God is good. God is kind. God is faithful. He is merciful and patient.
Take a deep breath. Abide in Him. His peace will guard your heart, and you will carry no strife into the lives of the people you love.
