There is nothing demanding about reality. It doesn’t yell, argue, or aggressively fight for our compliance. It has no ego, and it doesn’t need to build walls to protect itself. It simply is.
All the friction, the exhausting debates, and the complex psychological mazes we build, including the modern walls of no contact, come entirely from human resistance to what is true.
Self-deception is like a cul-de-sac. Some people like the cul-de-sac because it feels safe, enclosed, and predictable. But there is no progressive vision down that road. You can drive around in that circle forever, but until you hit reverse, do a U-turn, and move out of the trap, you aren't going anywhere better than where you currently are.
We often think these prideful illusions will eventually run out of breath or collapse on their own. But they don't necessarily. People can, and do, spend their entire lives entrenching themselves deeper inside of them.
The truth is, illusions are dead ends. They lead absolutely nowhere. They cannot produce life, they cannot produce true reconciliation, and they cannot yield anything genuine. They just leave a person trapped in a closed, static loop where no light can enter.
Meanwhile, reality doesn't chase anyone down. It doesn't negotiate, and it doesn't bend to preserve our comfort. It just stands at the exit of the cul-de-sac, immovable and true, extending an invitation to a much bigger world out there, with interesting things to learn and better places to go. All it requires is the willingness to turn around.
