We throw around the popular slogan "love is love"…

We throw around the popular slogan "love is love" as if it settles everything. Technically, the phrase is a tautology, a circular statement that repeats the same word without actually defining what it means, and in practice, it is often used to blur crucial distinctions, reducing love to whatever feelings, desires, or earthly attractions a culture chooses to validate at any given moment.
It is time to elevate the standard: Only love is love.
Much of what modern culture labels as "love" consists of temporary human emotions: romantic impulse, emotional dependency, possessiveness, or physical attraction. While some human affections have a natural place within God’s created order, they are not love itself. They are merely passengers. They travel alongside love, but they must never be mistaken for the source.
Scripture gives us the true benchmark in 1 Corinthians 13. Love is patient and kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.
No human being has a perfect heart, but love itself is entirely perfect. The presence of human weakness or the pollutants of selfishness in us does not mean love is absent. Love grows, refined and purified by God within the hearts of those who seek Him. But that which ultimately fails, dissolves, or abandons was never love to start with.
True love, the only love that is real, divine, and eternal, is infinitely better. Infinitely more noble.
It has nothing to do with self-preservation, emotional convenience, or psychological comfort strategies. Real love is unconditional, sacrificial, and unfailing. It is patient, persistent, and long-suffering. It takes the pain inflicted by the beloved as trivial by comparison, enduring all things because the soul being pursued is worth everything.
What we often diagnose in human relationships as mere attachment patterns misses the far deeper reality. Sometimes what is actually taking place is the tragic gulf between one who truly loves and one who does not yet know how.
The love of God is the ultimate foundation and the only true standard. He pursues every heart with relentless truth and grace, yet He is of all the most harshly rejected, because His pure light exposes the darkness of that rejection.
God is about absolute reconciliation, a message the world so often casts aside. But for those who receive and remain in this unyielding, noble truth, the story does not end in suffering. One day, God Himself will wipe every tear from our eyes.
Stop settling for the world's cheap imitations. Only love is love.
