What if some kinds of knowledge don’t come from sitting back and analyzing…
What if some kinds of knowledge don’t come from sitting back and analyzing…
but only from stepping into a different position?
Imagine trying to explain daylight to someone standing in a dark cave. You can describe the sun perfectly, talk about warmth, brightness, and color, but until they step outside, they won’t really understand. Not because they’re unintelligent. Because they literally can’t see it yet.
Or picture standing in water where your feet are planted firmly on the ground while someone else is out deeper, exhausted, barely treading water. You tell them, “Come over here. There’s solid ground.” From your position it’s obvious. From theirs it sounds crazy. Their whole experience says, “There is no bottom anywhere.” But you’re not stronger or better. You’re just standing somewhere different.
Or imagine two people on opposite sides of a wall. One side is bright daylight. The other side is shadow. The person in the light can see clearly. The person in darkness can only guess.
None of these situations are about intelligence.
They’re about access.
About position.
About what you’re standing in.
That’s what faith in God is like.
Faith isn’t blind guessing. Faith is stepping into the light.
Scripture says, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”
Not just hear about Him. Taste and see.
Faith results in sight.
But here’s the hard truth first, because the good news only makes sense if we understand the problem.
God’s standard isn’t “better than others.” It’s perfection.
“There is none righteous, no, not one.”
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
“The wages of sin is death.”
Be honest.
Have you ever lied?
Stolen anything?
Used God’s name carelessly?
Looked with lust?
Held hatred in your heart?
Jesus said the heart is the issue. Not just behavior.
So if God judged you by His law, would you be innocent or guilty?
Guilty.
That’s why life feels like treading water. Trying harder. Hoping you’re “good enough.” But you can’t outswim judgment.
You need solid ground.
That’s the gospel.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…”
Jesus lived the perfect life we couldn’t live. Then He took our punishment on the cross. Justice was satisfied. The debt was paid. Then He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death.
It’s not about religion.
Not about self-improvement.
Not about earning points.
“Repent and believe the gospel.”
Turn from sin.
Trust Christ.
Step into the light.
And when you do, you don’t just believe.
You know.
Because you’re standing on something solid.
Now here’s something many people miss.
Grace is not cheap.
It’s free.
But it’s not cheap.
Cheap means worthless.
Grace is priceless.
Jesus didn’t toss you a coupon.
He laid down His body to be beaten, nailed, and crushed in your place.
That’s not cheap. That’s infinitely expensive.
It’s like throwing a diamond tiara at someone who thinks it’s costume jewelry. They might let it bounce off and trample it because they don’t recognize the value.
The gift is real.
But it still has to be received.
And receiving it costs something.
But what does it cost?
Not treasure.
Not goodness.
Not your life’s potential.
It costs your garbage.
Your sin.
Your pride.
Your rebellion.
Your poison.
Things that are already destroying you.
It’s like a doctor saying, “Give me the infection and I’ll give you life.”
That’s not loss. That’s rescue.
But Jesus didn’t just die to rescue you from something.
He died to call you into something.
“If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.”
He laid down His life.
And now He calls you to lay down yours.
Not to lose it.
But to finally find it.
Not just saved from judgment, but sent on mission.
Not just rescued, but now helping rescue others.
Some people resist and act like Christians are “forcing” something on them.
But truth isn’t force.
Truth is light.
If Christianity were just a harmless lie, nobody would feel threatened by it.
Lies don’t convict.
Lies don’t disturb the conscience.
Lies don’t expose the heart.
Light does.
The only reason truth stings is because there’s substance in it.
Because somewhere deep down, people know.
And that’s why faith isn’t blind.
Faith isn’t pretending.
Faith is stepping into reality.
Belief opens the door.
Faith walks through it.
And on the other side is forgiveness, peace with God, and solid ground under your feet.
Not guessing.
Knowing.
